Best Kept Secret

Since I have started working here at the Haven of Rest Ministries, I have heard several say that this ministry is the best kept secret.  And I have to agree.  Before I began volunteering for the Haven of Rest, I only thought of it as a thrift store.  I saw the stores everywhere, but little did I know of the great work that God is actually doing through this ministry!!

As we progress deeper into 2012,  we want to expand other's knowledge of the Haven of Rest through social media.  We will be updating our twitter and facebook accounts daily.  Plus we will be updating our website with information on upcoming events, the ministries, and donation tributes.

So please, help us to let this secret out to the world!  We want people to know that God is changing lives through our ministry.  Let your friends and family know about the Haven of Rest!

Passing Through

Sometimes I get all wrapped up in what is going on in the world even to the point of getting down and worrying about it. Then the Lord has a way of bringing me back to the reality that “this world is not my home, I’m just passing through.” According to the Word of God we are pilgrims, aliens and this life is but just a vapor. What would happen if we lived in that reality all the time? How would it affect our boldness for the Gospel, our checkbook, relationships, work life, etc.
Let us challenge each other to live according to truth and the fact that the world is winding down to one great feast and that is the Marriage Supper of the Lamb. Out of mankind, there is going to be an elite group of people there, that is, the redeemed. I will be there because of Jesus Christ and I hope you will be as well. Let us see who else we can get there by not only living the gospel but proclaiming the Gospel.

Sid Stewart

New Year

The New Year has started and many of us see that as a fresh beginning.  A time to leave our past behind and seek the future.  And what comfort we have in knowing that our future lies in the hands of our Lord!

“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord, “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”  -Jeremiah 29:11

Fall

As  we look around and see the power and beauty of God's world and the changes that He shows us each fall, may we never forget to thank Him and give Him glory for all He has done for us.  May the one who spoke all this wonder into existence speak to you today.

Christian Life

The normal Christian life is one of constant and continual revival. While longing for a global revival to sweep the earth or a local revival to touch our church, we can personally nourish our soul every day. We can grow wise by the reading of God's Word, become enlightened by meditating on memorized Scripture, learn to treat others with the tenderness of agape love, and display the sweet traits of humility and confession. We can bolster our spirits with hymns and songs, and we can comfort and strengthen our hearts by reflecting on heaven and on things above.

For renewal to take place, we have only to study God's blessed Word and let it do its work in our lives.

Regularity of devotion, this holiness of common life... is a devotion that is the duty of all orders of Christian people.  William Law

Haven of Rest Mission

The residents at the Haven of Rest Mission have a wonderful, blessed opportunity to learn about God, themselves, and to develop a solid, safe and secure plan for their lives based on the Word.  They are put in a safe environment and given the time to experience God and what God is trying to do in their lives.  When they see this, they can bring honor and glory to God and allow them to become an asset to their family, church, and community.

We desire your prayers.  Thank you

Curtis Pless, Mission Director
